knee deep in weeds

notes on living a life

“I would love to live like a river flows,
carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.”
~ John O'Donohue

The dog and I walk around the two ponds in our tiny neighborhood most days. Underneath the biggest of those ponds is our community well; the well where we all get our water. Our water is good, sweet and always ice cold even straight out of the tap in mid-summer. I have had people ask to take bottles of it home with them.  We walk right by the pump house on our way and I am always thankful it is running, for without it we would not have water.

He has his favorite places to sniff and wander and I let him because this walk is really his, I just go along to keep him out of trouble. I often take my camera to keep me busy.  A few days ago as we set off, I told him I was not going to take one photo of anything I had seen before, so we needed fresh eyes and needed to take our time. I surprised myself when I came home and uploaded almost 35 photos of new and unseen things. I say almost 35 because there was a few of him in there and one of the two of us and we are by no means new.

I am over at Focusing on Life today with my farewell post. It was a hard decision to make, but something I felt in my heart, I needed to do. I hope you will drop by and take a peek. There you will see Basil and I saying goodbye to all the wonderful friends I have made over there.

it is the last weekend before Christmas,
is your shopping done??
