I believe that everything starts by paying attention. Life is imperfect and any magical light we can bring into our day is worthy of our gratitude. Laughter and love, joy and celebrations slip into our lives with ease but learning to cope with the deep pain life brings to us is also necessary. I do this best with my camera, chasing down light, zooming in and out and pairing it all with truth.

I live in Western Washington with my husband of 40+ years, in the home where we raised our three sons. We share that home now with our sweet beagle named Baker.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

“It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?”

the three of us

I met up with Deb and Vanessa for lunch a few days ago in Georgetown. I can't help but reflect on our friendship some; my 60 year old self really quiet amazed at finding such a deep connection online (of all places) at this time in my life. Writing this I understand just how old fashioned this sounds, but also understand that ten years ago I would have thought this was unthinkable. Today I find such gratitude in how the world has opened up for me.

A few days ago I came across this quote on Pintrest: The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply. I have no idea who wrote it, but boy did it speak to me and I have thought about it everyday now. Listen was my word for last year and after reading this quote I feel as if I still don't have a good handle on it. But these ladies, they do. And their youth and enthusiasm for their busy lives, their families, their open mindfulness, creative passions and iPhone knowledge make me feel so rejuvenated.

It is a rare gift in life to find meaningful friendships and I feel so blessed to have them in my life.

I hope your weekend is grand,
