knee deep in weeds

notes on a simple life

“How do you spell 'love'?" - Piglet
"You don't spell feel it." - Pooh”
― A.A. Milne

The kids were all home for the weekend for a wedding. It was grand to have the house filled with big boys, laughter and the clicking of the dog's nails on the hardwood floors. Basil gets very protective of me when the other dogs visit, but also has tons of fun with Gus in the backyard. Brandon brought down a new fly rod and the three of them stood in the yard; taking turns casting. It is good to see that they are still good at sharing and taking turns. I watched from the deck thinking how thankful I am that they are so close and how glad I am they have this love of fishing to share with each other.

The wedding was held at The George Town Ballroom in Seattle and it was a photographers dream location. Holding a camera and using a walker however was not easy; so many of the photos either didn't turn out (the lighting was such a challenge) or are still just in my head. But it was a fun night; full of love and laughter, dancing, family and good friends.

We also celebrated Jordan and Courtney's birthdays with a small little party yesterday. He turned 29 in August and she turns 31 next weekend. Then everyone but Jordan left, even Gary who went back to work on the East side alone.

Thanks so much for all the lovely comments on the new space. I figured out how to add a follow form and you can now have Knee Deep delivered to your inbox, if you are interested. You can find the form along the navigation bar under follow. Thank you so much for the intrerest! There is still so much to learn here. To be honest I think that is what I needed, some new things to learn, new things to discover in blog land.

I just finished Molly Wizenberg's new book Delancey last night. I love her writing. It is so smooth; it is like sitting with her and talking. I really liked the book; maybe because we have been there several times to eat and so the backstory was intriguing and nothing like I had imagined. I highly recommend it. And I have never tried one of her recipes that did not become a favorite.

I hope your week is off to a good start.

it is raining here and smells so good. . .  xoxoox
