kindness || week 13

“There is nothing perfect...only life.”
― Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees

the week was full of blue sky, calm and balance
it is as if i have woken up, from a long winter of hibernating
where i sat with restlessness and confusion,
to find myself emerging restored, soothed and with some understanding

if feels rather good. . .

all week i focused on and practiced kindness,
kindness towards friends and family
kindness towards strangers and those people i know
but don't really know. . .
kindness towards myself

“All I'm saying is, kindness don't have no boundaries.”
― Kathryn Stockett, The Help

i wondered at first if it was neccessary, after all my parents taught me well
i am kind and compassionate, i care about others, i am not rude, i haver good manners
but that deep, free-flowing kindness, the kind without judgement or scrutiny
is often just out of my reach, bubbling to the surface
only after all the muck has cleared. . .

“You know, some things don't matter that much...Like the color of a house. How big is that in the overall scheme of life? But lifting a person's heart - now, that matters.”
― Sue Monk Kidd, The Secret Life of Bees

so i will practice
because i want to acquire proficiency
i want it to become a habit, a routine, a pattern
a norm. . .

You can cut all the flowers but you cannot keep spring from coming.
~ Pablo Neruda
