the week is full of puppies and baby birds, summer fruit and awareness.
i settle into a simple routine, let go of perfection and move into each moment
with trust and an open heart. grasping that i cannot see tomorrow,
and that yesterday is gone; it dawns on me just how sad it would be to skip today.

friends come over for a playdate with their new pup, he is well behaved,
trusting, and loved. i am reminded how kindness and boundaries
allow him to feel secure and give him the courage to
explore and grow. i remind myself to practice kindness and boundaries
with others, surprising myself how good it feels.

three things ::
birds flock to the feeders, and a baby falls from her nest
(mamma coaxes her to a protected spot in one of my flower beds, and i have not seen her again)
i pick the first pint of raspberries from the garden
i finish this, and already miss the characters
the rain plays havoc with the flowers, pedals drops, stems break
rose buds melt on their stems. but i find beauty everywhere i look
and feel grateful i don't have to water. . .
Everything in life opens and closes, sheds and renews. We are no different. Listening in its endless forms is the way we stay open, the way we stay in relationship, the way we refresh who we are and what we're doing here.
