everyday normal || week 27

“Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will bring few regrets, and life will become a beautiful success.”
― Louisa May Alcott, Little Women

the week is full of everyday normal; my morning latte, time in the garden,
the gym, walks with the dog, catching up with friends, summer salads,
picking raspberries, and a book, i can't put down. . .

“She wished she had known back then. Known that happiness isn't a point in time you leave behind. It's what's ahead of you. Every single day.”
― Sarah Addison Allen, First Frost

we hike on the 4th to get away from the firecrackers going off
in the neighborhood, mostly for the dog's sake, but it is good to get out
and the lake is pretty empty and calm. . .

It's all flags, fireworks, family, food and fun
That's July Four
July Five, the fun is done
The fireworks are no more ~ John Walter Bratton

28/52 :: this is eight
i wake up on the 5th and sing happy birthday to him before we get out of bed.
we celebrate with special treats, a long walk, a trip to the pet store,
extra playtime and kisses!

we have the first corn of the season and i hold
the empty cob for the dog to clean up.
the raspberries are prolific, but not the blueberries.
we have the first potatoes from the garden.

“This corn will teach to you, should you peel away the husk, and be willing to open your ears.”
― Anthony Liccione

i start a month long class on lightroom,
and am surprised on day one, that i learn so much about this editing software
i have used for years. surprised and pleased.

“You can tell if a person is organized by checking his desktop.”
― Ali AlJa'bari

or in my case, my lightroom catalogue. . .

four things i learned in the first two days:
* it is okay to put every single image i shoot into one catalog
• how to access and work on photos, even if the hard drives, where the photos live, are not attached to the computer
• where "i" want to put my photos and how "i" want to label them
• how to customize lightroom for me

midweek i talk with a close friend about narrow pathways,
awkwardness and how to speak my truth. . .
i ponder a bit about what my truth is, beginning to understand
that it is okay to let myself think things through and take my time.
i am allowed to change my views as i change and grow.

“You will never be entirely comfortable. This is the truth behind the champion - he is always fighting something. To do otherwise is to settle.”
― Julien Smith, The Flinch

i work on a video from our anniversary,
reliving each moment as i do so, understanding how blessed we are.
i am happy to find the perfect song!

“What i like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.”
― Karl Lagerfeld

“The day is ending. It's time for something that was beautiful to turn into something else that is beautiful. Now, Let go.”
― Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love
