week 39 || the wedding

“You don’t find love, it finds you. It’s got a little bit to do with destiny, fate, and what’s written in the stars.”
― Anaïs Nin”

the week is full of goodness, love and family.
my boy tells me over and over how happy he is
and i can see it in his eyes, in his smile; feel it in my heart
which is linked to his in so many ways. . .
the wedding, is perfect.

“You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams.”
― Dr. Seuss

i don't take many photos, wanting to be present
for every moment. we stand in their
backyard, their family and close friends,
and feel their happiness, feel their love
and i know, without a doubt, that
this is the right journey for my boy.

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”
― Paulo Coelho, The Alchemist

“Marriage is a wonderful invention; but then again, so is a bicycle repair kit.”
Billy Connolly

three things::
there is tons of good food
there is pie and beer
but best of all, everywhere you turn there is love and friendship

i corner these three men at the end of the night
we joke, they laugh, they hug, they kiss, they call me ma
and my heart swells and i wonder
how they all grew up so fast?
i tell them all they are silly and to settle down
so i can get a photo!
and laugh with them and hug them and feel that
overwhelming, glorious love i have for them
break through . . .

“But kids don't stay with you if you do it right. It's the one job where, the better you are, the more surely you won't be needed in the long run.”
― Barbara Kingsolver, Pigs in Heaven

i text him later in the week:
how's married life? i ask.
people told us it would be different,
he says, and it is ma.
and i like it!

i can't ask for more than that.

"Love isn't a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.."

— Fred Rogers
