the morning is full of validating conversations, note taking
and summoning up bravery and courage to ask important
questions, even if the answers are not there yet.
we walk later, the dog and i, and i seek our patterns
in nature to help me wrap my head around patterns in my life.
i notice the very first true signs of fall, and pause the dog,
on the side of the road, for a photo. . .
a neighbor honks at me and smiles, lifting a hand to wave.
it is so warm i tie my jacket around my waist and i understand
summer is slowing down, but still frisky enough to not completely bail.
and, i understand that each blue sky, every warm breeze coming through
the open door, will now be a gift i won't be able to ignore.
