I believe that everything starts by paying attention. Life is imperfect and any magical light we can bring into our day is worthy of our gratitude. Laughter and love, joy and celebrations slip into our lives with ease but learning to cope with the deep pain life brings to us is also necessary. I do this best with my camera, chasing down light, zooming in and out and pairing it all with truth.

I live in Western Washington with my husband of 40+ years, in the home where we raised our three sons. We share that home now with our sweet beagle named Basil.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

day 319 || gratitude for . . .
modern medicine, listening to 13 years of experience and knowing that this year i wanted to be by myself, allowing myself to be apprehensive and giving myself permission to acknowledge the fear this day always brings about, a kind medical technician who notices my anxiety and offers to phone me with the results later today, an extra long walk along the river with the dog while i wait for her call, noticing so many tiny details and so much beauty, running into old friends along the trail with their new grandson, her reassuring voice when the phone finally rings, relief and self-respect for myself because i knew what i needed and listened, his text message back complete with emojis, and a glass of good red wine with dinner to celebrate.
