I believe that everything starts by paying attention. Life is imperfect and any magical light we can bring into our day is worthy of our gratitude. Laughter and love, joy and celebrations slip into our lives with ease but learning to cope with the deep pain life brings to us is also necessary. I do this best with my camera, chasing down light, zooming in and out and pairing it all with truth.

I live in Western Washington with my husband of 40+ years, in the home where we raised our three sons. We share that home now with our sweet beagle named Basil.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

friday || week 46

day 316 || gratitude for . . .
these four kids, the way they laugh and love, their thoughtfulness and understanding, how good they get along and the respect they have for each other, their willingness to hang with us on short notice, their independence and passions, their ability to teach me something new every time i am in their company, and how they allow me to be me, the way my boys hug me with such force and love that i feel it deep inside of me,  the way these woman have become part of us, without effort because their love for my boys is so true and deep, for living close enough that we can enjoy an afternoon and evening with them and drive home to sleep in our own bed, how they seem to understand how deeply i need their connection and how i feel it is not one-sided, how passionate they are about the world and their values and how spending a few hours with them all on a friday can fill my heart with so much love and hope and pure balm.
