the weatherman was wrong and we woke to snow.
i stood at the back door watched the sun come up, casting a pink glow
in pockets of the yard. . .
later the dog and i headed out, 188 photos later
i stamped my boots off and he shook his coat clean
and we came in. . . i made my latte and he went back to bed.
tonight we head to a party, which i am excited about.
it will be good to see old friends, reconnect and find joy.
listening with an open heart and letting go of old garbage.
snow, thinking of my dad (because he is the one who taught me about its beauty), watching the dog play, feeding the birds and watching the squirrel play, letting go of need to be the best cook and buying a plate of shrimp for the party tonight, a package in the mail, peanut brittle, hot water with lemon and Christmas music.
