I believe that everything starts by paying attention. Life is imperfect and any magical light we can bring into our day is worthy of our gratitude. Laughter and love, joy and celebrations slip into our lives with ease but learning to cope with the deep pain life brings to us is also necessary. I do this best with my camera, chasing down light, zooming in and out and pairing it all with truth.

I live in Western Washington with my husband of 40+ years, in the home where we raised our three sons. We share that home now with our sweet beagle named Basil.

Thank you so much for stopping by.

day 230 || gratitudes

somedays it is best to look towards gratitude. it helps me keep the tears in check and that lump in my throat at bay.

waking up at home, the house so cool i need to put on socks, my coffee-my way, watching the clouds burn off as the day unfolds, beans and beets, potatoes and almost ripe tomatoes in the garden, the second full flush of roses, the three boys down the street who caught a snake and told us all about it on our walk, their enthusiasm and their innocence the perfect mixture of childhood, a tiny afternoon nap with the dog, dinner from the garden, mixed with a bit of curry, sharing blackberries with Basil down by the pond, spotting the first red leaf on the ground and coming slowing back to the living.
