"Maybe life doesn't get any better than this, or any worse, and what we get is just what we're willing to find: small wonders, where they grow."
~ Barbara Kingsolver
I water the garden today and noice the huge yellow flower which appeared overnight on one of the zucchini plants. I notice the soft pink bloom of a forgotten rose, tucked away in the cutting bed, somehow lost among the vast crocosmia, which I meant to divide last spring. I notice the snake has moved to a cooler spot, or he has learned to stay away when I am out there. I notice how the winter squash is tumbling out of its bed, just as I knew it would and I am glad I gave it room to wander. I notice the smell of the tomato plants, which I would wear as perfume if they bottled it. I notice how I am able to water and be with my breath and at the same time take in the sunshine and the morning stillness. I notice I come away filled with goodness and gratitude.
