"Cabbages, whose heads, tightly folded see and hear nothing of this world, dreaming only on the yellow and green magnificence that is hardening within them."
~ John Haines
I thank the dog for his new habit of early rising. To me, that first hour of the day is such a gift. He (not the dog) surprises me and goes the gym with me. I row, he glides on one of the machines. In the afternoon I head to the garden, pick what I hope is the last zucchini, and my one beautiful head of cabbage. I see there is winter broccoli starting and I really need to do something with some of the beets. I feel myself pulling back into myself and am glad I have a lunch date tomorrow.
