“Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world's great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs. I am haunted by waters.”
- Norman Maclean, A River Runs Though It
My father was a fisherman and every vacation we took included water of some kind. The big lakes of Norther Idaho, the ocean shores of Washington, the tiny fly fishing rivers of Montana. I was the kid who never went to Disney Land and to this day I am okay with that. When life is hard I head to the water. When life is good I head to the water. I am pretty sure I was a mermaid in another lifetime.
