"In school, I learned that a galette is sort of the offspring of a pie and a tart- halfway between
homespun and fancy- but easier to make than its parents.

“Over and over in the butterfly we see the idea of transcendence. In the forest we see not the inert but the aspiring.
In water that departs forever and forever returns, we experience eternity.”

“August was nearly over – the month of apples and falling stars, the last care-free month for the school children.

A lot of Washington state is beautiful. You have just tons of mountains, beautiful bodies of water, you have a lot of rolling hills in eastern Washington.
I'm biased, obviously, but there's not a lot of places in the world that are like where I grew up.

real life

For the first time in 85 days I did not take a photo today, instead I played with Percy, worked in the garden, did some laundry, threw the ball for the dog and went out to dinner with some of my kids to meetup with some out of town friends. I also spent time post processing photos that were waiting for me in Lightroom where I found this beauty from our trip to Ross Lake earlier this month. I love images like this one. Images that speak to real life and take me right back to the moment, flooding my senses with memories.
